Spoilers abound only one day after the 17th cycle of CBS's The Amazing Race began in Boston. Who's competing? Where are they going? Find out below.

CBS’s hit reality show The Amazing Race began its 17th edition on the afternoon of May 26, 2010. As with seasons 15 and 16, many locals witnessed the eleven teams beginning the race and tweeted their sightings, allowing fans and detectives at Reality Fan Forum to track the first leg of the race.

Although CBS has yet to announce its fall premiere dates, The Amazing Race 17 is expected to debut in mid-September on CBS. Until then, here’s a look at what’s known about the exciting new season:

The First Leg of the Race (Gloucester, MA to London, England)

For the first time since The Amazing Race 11 in 2007, the race will not begin in southern California. This time, teams were transported in lobster-fishing boats to the Eastern Port Yacht Club in Gloucester, Massachusetts, which was the starting point. Teams were photographed and videotaped getting into these boats by Good Morning Gloucester.

From there, fans and detectives on Reality Fan Forum have determined that teams traveled to Boston’s Logan International Airport where the first three teams, allegedly a young male team and two young couples, boarded American Airlines 108 departing at 7:15 pm. The remaining eight teams traveled aboard Virgin Atlantic 12 departing a half-hour later at 7:45 pm. The flights were scheduled to arrive at Heathrow International Airport in London, England a half-hour apart the next morning. According to ‘georgiapeach’ at Reality Fan Forum, the first destination was Stonehenge.

The Teams of The Amazing Race 17

For the first time in Race history, there will be four female-female teams. There will also be four co-ed teams, the lowest number ever on the show. One of the co-ed teams, based on eye-witness reports, is a young tattooed couple. Rounding out the cast are three male-male teams, which include an African-American pair and an Asian father-son team.

In sixteen seasons of the show, a team of two women has never won the million dollar grand prize. However, with more female-female teams than usual, perhaps this season Amazing Race history will be made again and two women will win the race.

Team #1: Kenny and Kevin Wu

Based on information provided by ‘wenger15,’ ‘georgiapeach,’ and ‘Macaroons’ on Reality Fan Forum, the first team identified is father-son duo Kenny, 58, and Kevin Wu, 19. Kevin, better known by his online personality ‘KevJumba,’ is a YouTube comedian and online celebrity. He is currently the number seven most subscribed comedian and the eleven-most subscribed user on Youtube. Kevin’s father, Kenny, appears in many of his videos. The team resides in Houston, Texas.

Who are the other ten teams who will be racing around the world, and what exotic destinations await these teams as they continue The Amazing Race? Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Re: TAR 18: I don't believe this was The Amazing Race 18 that you witnessed. More likely, it was a local race taking place in the city. TAR18 applications have never been posted yet, and if the filming schedule is the same as last year, the race wouldn't film until October/November. Thanks for checking though, and please do keep an eye out -- the race has been to southern California every season for the past several years, so it's possible that you might witness something in the fall.
